Penne ala Vodka is probably my single favorite Italian dish and probably my top 5 dish of all time.  I have probably tried Penne ala Vodka all over Los Angeles, so I wanted to rank my favorites!

Royal Clayton’s

Royal Clayton’s is definitely a hidden treasure of Downtown Los Angeles, its so hidden, you probably won’t even find the place.  Located underneath the Toy Factory Lofts in Downtown and across from Steven Arroyo’s new Church & State, Royal Clayton’s is definitely trying pioneer a location and a restaurant movement on the east side of Downtown Los Angeles.  The food is actually really good, and the variety of beers on tap are amazing, but the service is very slow, which is odd since whenever I eat the restaurant is pretty near to empty.  The atmosphere of the restaurant is reminiscence of an old English pub, and all of the traditional English foods are on the menu.  Like I said before, food is great, just make sure to go there when you have a lot of time to spare.

The last thing anyone wants to read about is another Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles, but I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t let you know about Loteria Grill.  The most flavorful and unique Mexican eatery in the Hollywood/Los Angeles Area.  Last night I tried the Chilaquiles with Rojo Sauce and Huevos Rancheros, both are traditional Mexican breakfast dishes that are so tasty I could have had another plate of both of them.  (On a side note, why do only Mexican restaurants serve breakfast all day????) Anyway’s Loteria has two locations, one at the Farmers Market at The Grove, and the other on Hollywood Blvd just east of Cherokee. The scene at Loteria might not be as sexy as Beso, but the food is better since they are serving dishes you can eat nearly every day.  I wouldn’t waste anytime, go eat there right away!!  Plus the location on Hollywood Blvd is open till 3 AM so if you leave the club early you can go have a drunk snack at Loteria.

Subway
The recession has hit America and the Subway Breakfast Flatbread Sandwich has come to save our wallets and fill our stomach.  For $1.99 (without meat) you can have a fresh flatbread sandwich with all of your favorite Subway toppings, plus the flatbread is much better than their usual sandwich bread.  I believe they serve breakfast till 11 AM but it may vary by location.

Adoro Mexican Grille

There are probably close to 100 places to eat Mexican food in Downtown Los Angeles, however there are really no upscale or even semi-nice places to eat and have a drink.  I finally stumbled upon one that has been open nearly two years at 7th/Fig Shopping center across from California Pizza Kitchen.  This center is definitely not known for good food, or even upscale except for the Morton’s Steakhouse, however Adoro has done a great job with their food and a pretty crazy tequila selection. Service is friendly and very good, but a bit pricey for Mexican food.  Definitely not a lunch spot for your average Joe, but definitely worth checking out.

My friend Sam came by my office today and dropped have some samples of new products that are coming out for Kraft and Nabisco.  These products are samples, and I guess they are testing them.  I tried both of these and they are pretty damn good, look forward to seeing them on the shelves soon.

Birthday at Madeo’s

Madeo
8897 Beverly Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90048

Hours:
Mon-Fri 12pm-3pm, 6pm-11pm , Sat-Sun 6pm-11pm

Last week I celebrated my 28th birthday at Madeo’s in Beverly Hills, definitely one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the country (and yes that includes NYC).  The food is great, scene is hot, and the service is one of the best in Los Angeles.  This family owned restaurant serves one of the best Penne ala Vodka’s and Margherita Pizza, along with a very extensive wine selection.  The restaurant is also very sceney with Hollywood heavyweight’s dining in a good portion of the tables and paparazzi always waiting outside for celebrities like Jennifer Anniston, who is seen at the restaurants often.  I eat there nearly every month, but it is definitely a restaurant that is great for special occasions(kind of expensive), because the friendly staff make you feel “special.”

Dodger Stadium

September 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I recently hit up a Los Angeles Dodger game at Dodger Stadium to see them take first place over the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Ever since I was a kid I always loved eating at Dodger Stadium more than the game itself, and I have to say with addition of Dodger Club Seats the food has improved dramatically.  For those of you not familiar the Club House seats are pretty much on the field(cost a bundle) and offer all you can eat food which includes Dodger Dogs, Salads, Pasta’s, Ice Cream, Soda’s and Cookies!  The biggest surprise of my Dodger Club experience was to find that they have VEGGIE DOGS, and they are actually really good.  I also got some Nachos and some great Garlic Gordon Biersch Fries.  Try to catch a game before the season ends and eat some good stadium food, hopefully they will be in the playoffs!
